Skill Enhancement of printing operators

Artisans upgrading skills in new techniques of Prinitng
Printing being one of the most crucial part of the textile industry requires skilled labour. In Ludhiana knitwear cluster problems related to printing were, lack of trained personnel for required operations and excessive wastage and rejection of goods due to unskilled labour. Less production capacity of the cluster particularly in specialized operations forcing local manufacturers to go to Delhi and nearby areas for printing jobs resulted in increased cost of production and increased time required for operations. To support industry a Practical course module was designed to provide training to the unskilled workers employed in the factories. Training was provided to the workers working as unskilled laborers as per the time suitable to the workers. Through training new techniques in printing were introduced in the cluster. 30 unskilled workers were trained for printing operations and are now getting more than double salary per month. A New unit set up with the help of skilled labour. This unit is working for reputed buyers in the cluster and has a production capacity of 1000 pieces per day. Association of apparel printers (AAP) is formed to handle the issues of apparel printers.
